Write for Ten

Dannon Loveland

Sometimes I feel like the church is like the children of Israel wandering through the wilderness led by Moses. Not because we are lost, but because we aren’t ready to enter Zion. Some of the things that we bicker about or are bothered by or the way we treat each other is somewhat petty and miss the mark as it relates to what is really important.

Some of the commandments that we are given are given because we aren’t ready for something greater. We are waiting for someone to tell us what to do and what not to do, rather than been enlightened to something greater.

Life is not easy, but there is no point in complaining. I still struggle with doing the right thing, and it’s frustrating. Sometimes I personally feel like one of the children of Israel that can see Zion but more or less makes the choice to wander.

“Not all who wander are lost” is a phrase that is romanticized, but it really could be a bit damning. Those who wander may just not be doing what they need to be doing in order to get to the right place. Some of them are happy in that decision or they may not realize they are lost. But there are those who just aren’t willing to be found.

If people would live their life in accordance to the principles of truth, they will find themselves where they want to be.
