This is a poem about lengthy feelings and pereptual heartache, about the crack in between desire and reason where the heart piruouttes – unable to believe there is no chance, unable to see those hopes bloom. Caught. Caught. Caught. Caught like two moths in a lantern on the porch. Bathed in artificial light so miraculously pleased with their discovery and so hopelessly caught.
For myself I will go, but for him
the things I would do… I do not know.
The fear grips fiercer than desire
and his face twitches
every moment an allegory
a profession of love now
an expression of disgust now
a friendly quip now
and now indifferent courtesy
each one a twist
each one a shove
there is no solution
there is no cause
I have fallen
I have fallen
I have fallen
in love
in human life
and the pain is so sweet
I might cry
or might lie
have lied
The pain is so tart
I may fall again
