Write for Ten

Writing about writing is a lame thing to write about. I have so much more in this brain of mine, but it seems like writing about writing is the thing that comes out first. It hopefully is just a “priming the pump” type of thing. If I wrote more consistently, I probably wouldn’t have to “prime the pump” every time.

I am in a class currently that discusses technology and schools. One thing that I have gained from this class is the distinction between learning and schools. They aren’t the same! They seem to be so associated, yet they have very different outcomes. Learning is what you hope will come from schooling, but it isn’t a given.

I have been nominated for the USU Employee Association, Media and Public Relations. In this role, I would work as the information link between the executive council and the general staff employees. It seems like it would make more sense to have this role as communications rather than PR and Media. As part of the nomination, I need to write a small bio and send a headshot. I don’t really like writing bios like this, but I will try. It might be easier if I was given more direction. Here is my attempt at the bio:

In third person. Or maybe first person.

I have worked at USU since 2010, starting in the internship office at the Huntsman School of Business. Most recently, I am working as a Career Coach in Career Services.

What is the best way to get word out to students about jobs and internships?
There are quite a few ways that we let students know about jobs and internships. CareerAggie is the system that we use at Utah State University to post jobs and internships. Students and alumni have access to this system. You can find more information and sign up to post on Career Aggie here [link]. Some employers like to come to campus to meet with students.
